BHAKARWADI
MAHARASHTRIAN TEA TIME SNACK
Bhakarwadi is a Maharashtrian snack. It gives sweet, spicy and tangy taste. It’s a great tea time crispy snack. I liked it when i tried it for the first time itself and am sure you like it too.
Ingredients for making bhakarwadi:
1. All purpose flour/maida – 1 cup
2. Besan flour – 3 tablespoon
3. Turmeric – 1/2 teaspoon
4. oil
5. Desiccated coconut – 1/2 cup
6. Jeera – 1 tablespoon
7. Coriander seeds – 1 tablespoon
8. Sesame seeds – 1 tablespoon
9. Poppy seeds – 1 tablespoon
10. Chilly powder – 1 tablespoon
11. Sugar – 2 tablespoon
12. salt – 1/2 tablespoon
13. Tamrind juice – 4 tablespoon
Procedure:
1. In a mixing bowl, take maida, besan flour, turmeric powder.
2. Add 2 tablespoon hot oil, pinch of salt and add water in batches to form a dough.
3. Let it rest for 20-30minutes.
4. In a pan, add desiccated coconut, jeera, coriander seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds and saute it for 2-3 minutes.
5. Once it’s roasted, let it become cool.
6. Transfer the roasted mixture into a jar and add chilly powder, salt, sugar and blend it slight coarsely.
7. Take a small ball sized dough and roll it uniformly and slightly thin.
8. Grease the rolled dough with tamrind juice and spread the above blended mixture.
9. Roll it tight and cut it into approximately 2cm.
10. press it gently and now ready to deep fry.
11. Deep fry them in a low flame and drain off the oil and it’s ready to serve.
SECRET TIPS:
Don’t over fry the masala. just make it slightly hot.
HEALTH TIPS:
Eating 10-12 almonds cure headache.
