METHI RICE

There are several ways of making methi rice. Methi rice is a methi flavoured pulav recipe. You can customise it according to your taste by adding green peas, paneer or any vegetable of your choice.



Ingredients:

List A :

1. Rice – 1 Cup

2. Methi – 1 Wisp

3. Oil – 3 Table spoon

4. Mustard – 1 Tea spoon

5. Jeera – 1 Tea spoon

6. Onion – 2

7. Tomato – 1

8. Pudina/Mint – 1/4 Wisp

9. Salt

List B:

1. Grated coconut – 1/2 Cup

2. Ginger – 1 Inch

3. Garlic – 1 (full)

4. Green chilly – 6

5. Pudina/ Mint – 1/4 Wisp

6. Cinnamon – 1 Stick

7. Cloves – 2

Procedure for making methi rice:

1. Grind all the ingredients in the List B.

2. In a cooker, take oil and add mustard, jeera, onion and saute it until the onion turns golden brown.

3. Add tomato, methi and fry well.

4. Also add pudina and fry for 3 minutes.

5. Add the above prepared paste, rice and fry for 3-4 minutes.

6. For 1 cup of rice add 2 cups of water, salt as per your taste and stir well.

7. Let it simmer.

8. Close the lid and allow it to cook for 10-15 minutes.

Serves: 3

Tastes better when it’s hot and can also eat it with raita.

SECRET TIPS:

Adding pudina/mint leaves while frying enhances the flavour of Methi rice.
