PURI CHANA MASALA
Chana masala is a famous North Indian dish which is served with Bhaturas or puris. This is well known as chole bhatura. Puri chana masala is a perfect breakfast recipe when it’s pouring and you want to eat something spicy and also healthy.
Ingredients :
1. Chickpeas/chana – 1 cup/1/2 kg
2. Onion – 2
3. Tomato – 2
4. Green chilly – 1
5. Cinnamon stick – 1 inch
6. Cloves – 2
7. Oil – 3 tablespoon
8. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
9. Chana masala powder – 2- 3 tablespoon
10. Salt
Procedure for making chana masala :
1. Wash chickpeas and soak in water overnight or for 8 – 10 hours.
2. In a pressure cooker, add soaked chickpeas, cinnamon stick, cloves and salt and cook for 4-5 whistles.
3. Roughly chop the onions and tomatoes .
4. Grind it separately to make a paste.
5. In a pan, add oil and add cumin seeds once it’s hot and let it splutter.
6. Furthermore, add onion paste and green chilly and cook for 3 minutes with continuous stirring.
7. Then add tomato paste and cook for 2 minutes.
8. Add chana masala powder, salt and mix well.
9. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the spices are mixed up well.
10. Add cooked chickpeas to the pan and mix well.
11. Close the lid and allow it to cook for 4-5 minutes.
Serve it with hot chapathi or puri.
SECRET TIP :
You can mash a few cooked chickpeas to get further more thick consistency.
