SNAKE GOURD SUBJI

Snake gourd subji is one of the best snake gourd recipes. snake gourd is also called as adalukayi or padavalakayi.

Ingredients:

List A:

1. Grated coconut – 1 Cup

2. Coriander – 4 stems

3. Ginger – 1 inch

4. Garlic – 5-6

5. Green chilly – 8-10

6. Cashew nuts – 7-8

List B:

1. Snake gourd – 1/2 Kg

2. Bengal gram – 1/4 Cup

3. Oil – 4 Table spoon

4. Mustard – 1 Tea spoon

5. Onion – 3

6. Tomato – 2

7. Curry leaves – 6-7 leaves

Procedure for making snake gourd subji:

1. Cook bengal gram in a cooker for about 10-12 minutes in a cooker.

2. Grind all the ingredients in the list A in a mixer.

3. In a pan, take oil and add mustard, onion, and snake gourd.

4. Saute it until the onion turns golden brown.

5. Add tomato once snake gourd is cooked and fry.

6. Add cooked bengal gram and little water and let it simmer.

7. Add the above prepared mixture to the pan and salt as per your taste.

 8. Allow it to cook for 5-6 minutes.

Serves: 4

You can also use ginger garlic paste instead of separate ginger and garlic.

Tastes better with dosa and ghee!!

SECRET TIPS:

While frying the snake gourd, add little salt so that it will be cooked soon.
